Here is an article about the new `Make Chess Happen` Initiative:

http://www.dailytimes.bppmw.com/article.asp?ArticleID=9092

The idea of the `Make Chess Happen` initiative is to have local chess leagues with top players participating in high level matches for the schools and scholastic children to observe and learn from. They hope that this event will encourage schools in the local area to take up the game of chess with their students and get the students involved and excited about the game of chess.

It is boring, its sad but true.  Maybe a blitz chess league.  Childrens' attention span is pretty low.  Not that mine is any better.

i agree it will only fule those opposed to chess by making them watch people playing chess games that takes 30 min. if we had the winer of the tortament win a prize of some kind then the kids would be more interested to see you can, earn money or trophies to encorage them
