A killer rook sac qives a mating attack
Nice game!
Very nice game, well played!
I think this game, despite the two blunders (by my feeble analysis) by my opponent with his rook, is worth posting because of the nature of the attack. It starts with a rook sacrifice, and with its forced, combinative & mating continuation, which lasts 5+ moves and includes ignoring an attack on the queen twice! It also ends with all 5 of blacks pieces surrounding the immobile white king, a very pretty picture.
I hadn't worked out every possible variation after Rxh2!! but I recorded the game (played in a rather drunken state) on my phone & entered it into Fritz11 which, after a brief pause, gave me a !! for Rxh2 because it is apparently mating. If any can prove it is not and has an escape plan for white please let me know as I have not been able to find one. I tried to find if after Rc1 instead of Rd1?? the rook sac still works and it does, white runs out of checks and black mates using similar motifs to Rd1??
Ouch...
12.0.0 is castling into the attack bigtime. Think white should play 12Qf3 intending, 0.0.0 and then he has a ok position. Not sure if looking for opening comments really, but 4...Bf5 is a well-known mistake, because of pxp, followed by Qb3.18...Rxh2 looks completly crushing, nice!
