This is a game that I was playing recently but it was timed out. I did rather poorly in the opening but I think I might have recovered a bit by move 18. How do you think it would have turned out if the game had continued? Who has the advantage in the current position?

Also, if you have any comments or tips about my gameplay, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

3...f6 is bad.  If White had played 5. Qh5+ you would have had to run to d7 with your King.Tongue out

The final position is clearly winning for Black. 28 gxh4 nh4+ 29. Kh1 Nf6 30.Qh5+ Kd8 31.Qh4+ Kc8 32.Bf4 (keeping Q of diagonal or it's over) Qc3 33. can't find a plan for White.

What would be the best response to 3.e5? I'm really bad with openings and I didn't know how to react to it.

3... d4 4. Nce2 Qd5 was worth considering.

Or, alternatively, 3... g6 and then 4... Bg7, or 3... Be6 and 4... Nd7.

I thought f6 is okay at least. I've played it, but I always capture with the knight because it covers the weak diagnol on the king. Also, 3...f6 4. Qh5+ g6 and you've gained a tempo with the possibility of fianchettoing your bishop (albeit a weakened pawn structure). You don't have to run to d7 if you take the e5 pawn (after it takes f6) with the knight, which is what I'd recommend.

And black is winning in the end there.

Black is just dominating the final position. White attacked way too early without any sort of advantage, and leading off the attack with the queen is just suicidal.

With such a huge material advantage, black needs to trade queens, simplify, and just flex that material muscle in the endgame.
