I have some questions concerning tactics trainer.  When you get a problem wrong, will chess trainer eventually show you this problem again until you finally get it right?

Also there are a few bugs in tactics trainer such as some problems seemingly having more than one answer.  Will these eventually be rectified.

In tactics trainer, when you successfully complete a problem, it tells you how many attempts have been made, and the success rate.  Is the number of attempts cumulative?  Or is it only the number of attempts made that day?

Also, is there a place on Chess.com to study endings?  How is the proposed openings site coming along?

I'm sure that someone else will be able to give you more thorough answers to your questions; but I can answer what I do know:

I also have noticed problems reoccur, though I am not sure if they are the EXACT same or perhaps just very similar (this has helped my rating though, so I'm not sure if I want that to change!).

It seems that some of the problems do have more than one answer, but my experience has been that the 'correct' solution is either more forcing or leads to a more definative result (perhaps instead of one line that leads to being up a queen, there is an alternate line that leads directly to mate).  If you find a problem that has multiple 'correct' lines as you said, you are encouraged to inform chess.com of the specific problem and the line that you see.

I think Chess Mentor has an ending course.

Hope that helps!

Yes Im disappointed in the number of situations there are 2 solutions but the one I choose is penalized as wrong  I have reported 1 but have found more before and after. Consequently my rating for this suffers and doesnt seem fixable other than just to personally keep getting better.I will try to report them so they dont trip up others after me.

thanks for the feedback! if you see a problem that is unclear, PLEASE REPORT IT! :) that is helpful!

also, you will NOT see a problem again that you have gotten wrong. you can only do a puzzle one time. you can always go back and look at it, but it won't be rated.

also, we are going to be introducing THOUSANDS more challenges in the upcoming weeks - our computers are crunching them right now!

# of attempts is cumulative. Best place to study endings in my opinion is Chess Mentor. The opening explorer is coming along nicely...probably 1 month out.

How long has tactics trainer been around? I just discovered it a couple of days ago and am really enjoying it. Thanks chess.com staff!

I wonder if there isn't a bug in the tactics trainer rating calculations. I usually try a couple problems a day and get a max. change of ~20 pts per problem. But today, I got a whooping  +117 pts. by solving a problem which had already been tackled by over 40 people.

Besides, the minimum rating to get in top 50 has jumped from 1950 to 2070 !

Maybe a problem in the Glicko rating calculations ? or the RD ?

the RD has been reset for all players to allow for a re-adjustmest of ratings due to our fixes of the problem ratings :)

just play on - it will settle down soon ;)
