I walked in to the local chess shop the other day to see (again) if they had a nice set. Normally it's all pretty standard but this team the owner said he had something special in the back.
And special it was.
Really, the best looking chess set i have ever seen. Classic Staunton design, pretty big, deep beautifull black colour, and the knights.. My god, did they look good. Amazing details. Truelly wonderfull.
The price was also pretty special, at 650 euro :s (1002.56 dollar, tommorow probably 2000 dollar ;) )
And from the amazing euro/dollar convert, I come to my actual question, do u know any website in the USA which sells chess set like the one i described? When buying stuff from the USA i often find prices are the same (650 euro=650 dollar) so that would mean a huge win for me. Even shipping costs and some costs to import this would probably be easily covered.
Many thanks in advance, and any help will be well appreciated.
This is going to hurt my wallet :S
Life is good when you can spend 2 GRAND on a chess set.
I feel guilty spending that much on a mountain bike, and this has precision moving parts that must stand up to all sorts of abuse on the most wretched trails imaginable (mountain bikers prefer em that way:)
Well, hopefully it will be something that will be in your family for many many years;)

1 Grand ;) And only in dollars offcourse. As I said before, in dollars it looks like a lot because of the insane conversion rate. For me 650 euro is probably the same is 650 dollar for you. It get's expensive when you have to buy it here with dollars, and cheap i u buy it there with euro's :)
And yes, you buy such a set for your life, and hopefully beyond :)

These sets are about as good as you are going to get in the 1k price range. Browse and see
if they have what you like.
All sets are made in India these days so it's up to the company (HOS, Jaques, etc.) to
set standards with the Indian carvers and know they can meet them, as well as the
standard for quality of materials. HOS also sells on ebay but I'm not sure if they ship
to Europe for ebay sales.
If you were to buy from HOS, I'd request that they open up and inspect the set
piece by piece before they ship. Having you send back defective pieces for replacements
would be a hassle and more time waiting.
