Staunton Preview 2: Jan Timman

Submitted by FM_Eric_Schiller on Sat, 08/02/2008 at 1:36pm.

Jan Timman, "The Flying Dutchman", needs no introduction. He has been a major force in the chess world since the 1970s. He returns to the Staunton this year hoping for a major victory.

Not only has Jan defeated Kasparov, he has done so from a position where he was losing! Enjoy!

Did kasparov not take the rook on line 41 because he would lose it on the next line and pretty much have a lost game??

It is impressive to see Kasparov making blunders. I think he was young and reckless at that timeTongue out
