Stalemate.

Ok all you endgame buffs, lets see what you make of this endgame situation.

In this endgame we shall se how one Grandmaster Nikolaevsky gains a draw against Grandmaster Taimanov in the USSR championship in Tbilisi in 1966.

So for all of those that think their endgame is strong I would urge you to rethink this game and consider reading a endgame manual one that offers a real meat and potatoes type of approach. Endgame 1-158 quoted from "Dvoretsky's endgame manual 2nd edition".

National Master GreeLaser I am not sure as to what title Nikolaevsky had. But I do know is that he was playing other masters and having some remedial success at what he was doing in the chess world. Nikolaevsky did manage to stalemate Taimanov in this game that they played in the 196 U.S.S.R. Championship. what do you think Nikolaevsky's chances were for winning?

Yuri Nikolaevsky was considered grandmaster strength, but had not title besides master.

in the end game what men would you say is important to have or is it something that I'm missing in strategy and also i picked up that book you suggested. And learning the notation of chess. I see these grandmasters have only pawns and kings. So would you say you can have any peiece and it comes down to strategy. And would you agree that white wanted a draw as well. It does look like white had a chance to make queen. after move number 6. or im i wrong and why. willingtolearn2@chess.com
