Move A Day - #2 B

Submitted by ih8sens on Mon, 04/21/2008 at 2:25pm.

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6

Correct Response(s) - Many, d4 being prefered by many.

Black follows what may very well be the single most played opening in the history of modern chess.  The idea behind the move is simple; support the 'c' pawn, fight for the center, and prepare to develop agressively.

Should the mainline continue to be followed, we well almost certainly end up in a very agressive and tactical position.

Unfortunately for us spectators, we may be stuck in the 'book' for some time to come, the game should be very fun though!

I love the "Move a day" with comments idea.  It just so happens that I have historically answered 1. e4 with 1. e4 e5, but have recently started to study the Sicilian to replace my Spanish or Italian Opening.  So the topic is just on time, and yet not to fast ;-)
