Castle too soon or too late!

You ignored some of the openings goals to develop and protect your pieces.

I think you  Black should have castled at the 7th move.

7. Be2  0-0 rook on the king side.

Why castle then you ask? First there is no white pieces that can do any harm to you in one or two moves, check your next two moves you are not in any danger, so it's time to put your king in protection, out of view by castling.

As well why 9. ...a6? 9. ...a5 I think is more aggressive and forces some nice positional play, note that this is not computer analysis but just intuition from the position.

Some how I would have played the game differently but I did enjoy a number of the moves. Learned something.

Well, first of all, I don't know wheter you were black or white.  But, I think  that 24.Bg4 was a very weak move for white, the bishop was totally unprotected, but it ended up with the winning diversion........a very circumstantial game due to black's play.

Had black captured the bishop, he would have fantastic attack potential with three strong pieces attacking White's castle.

Bonsai, I don't know if you were black or white, but good show either way.  Any body see black's potential had he captured the bishop after 24. Bg4?
